Acupuncture

The virtually painless insertion of small needles along the energetic channels of the body. Acupuncture is a modality that has been used for more than 5,000 years for a wide variety of conditions. The needles are about the width of a cat whisker and are very flexible. There are acupuncture points all over the body, but they are usually focused at the site of pain, ears, and from elbows to hands/knees to feet.

Cupping

Cupping is becoming more and more popular because it feels good and is effective in treating musculoskeletal pain. Unlike most healing modalities, such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, and even surgery, which involve pressing in on the body, muscles, and fascia, cupping creates a vacuum within the cup. This allows space for healthy blood and energy to flow into the affected area so that tight, adhered muscles can relax and loosen. You may look like you were hugged by an octopus afterwards, but the cupping marks are painless and will fade in a few days.

Moxibustion

Moxa is a moss-like substance that comes from the Artemisia Vulgaris (or mugwort) plant. Moxibustion is one of the few ways energy can be put into the body, according to Chinese Medicine. The moxa can be burned directly on the skin or placed on top of the needles. This creates a sensation that feels like laying on a tropical beach. Moxibustion is great for improving digestion, cycle regulation, Bell’s Palsy, and conditions caused or worsened by cold/damp weather.
